And then there was… a book!

It looks like I birthed a book. it’s on display in the amazon webstore here. With just a few clicks it can be yours. For your kindle or for your bookcase.

It all started 5 years ago with a trip to another continent. At the same time a discovery through mind and body began. That adventure is the subject of Wander to Wonder. I’ve been writing a blog in my native Dutch language for all that time and somewhere beginning this year things came together and a story consisting of a 50/50 combination of previously published blog posts and new material arose. Once I had the text in Dutch I wanted to share it with a larger public and decided to translate it to English.

The focus is mainly on the QiGong part of my adventure and everything around it. However, you will not find exercises in it. A system that has been passed on from master to student for thousands of years is rather hard to put on paper. Or as one of our students said: “I learned more in 1 month practicing with you than in the years that I followed books and videos in my living room.”

So what will you find in it then? Razor-sharp anecdotes, sometimes hilarious, sometimes gripping, that take you on an incredible adventure through body and mind and introduce you to the power of Medical Qigong. Old and not so old blog posts, whether or not adapted in the light of 5 years of experience and topped with a good dose of self-reflection.

Both the kindle edition and the paperback can be ordered here.

Thank you and enjoy reading!

Class schedule upgrade

I think Sitia and especially my students in Sitia are ready for an upgrade! Starting from June, 1 our classes on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday will take 2 hours instead of 1. Which give me the time to go deeper into the 7 static exercises and expand into other more dynamic parts of Medical Qigong like leg exercises and forms. This in turn gives my students a broader understanding and awareness of their body and their center. Which leads to a better posture and a more healthy life faster. In this case one 2h class gives you more than two 1h classes as in the second hour we grow and consolidate the budding Qi of our first hour practice.

Off course we don’t forget our potential students. For the ones who like to try this system of Medical Qigong I created an Introductory Class. After a short consultation, we will go more into the why and how of TQH Medical Qigong and practice the first 3 of the 7 statics together. This class will take place every Tuesday from 7 to 8pm. As with all our classes spots are limited to 5 people to allow for an individual approach.

Letting go

We practice letting go. And in the process, we find peace.
Leo Babauta

In the previous post I talked about allowing. Allowing all that is so real healing can happen. Today I want to stress the importance of letting go. Real healing can’t happen without letting go. For real healing to happen we need to allow all that is but we also need to let go of all that is not serving us anymore.

Our bodies, our mind cannot change when we hold on to our old ideas about how things should be. Your body can’t realign when you can’t let go of your own/old concepts of alignment. You have to let go of that and allow a new concept to take its place. Your mind can’t take in new ideas when it’s still full with old ones. Like a cup you have to empty it before it can be filled again.

Letting go takes courage. Courage to face the uncertainty of not knowing what will happen. It takes trust, trust that whatever comes your way is for the better even when it doesn’t feel that way at all. It takes opening up. The same opening up that you need for allowing, you need for letting go.

“Find your center” Let go of old, limiting physical and mental habits, allow them to be replaced. Every day, every moment, again and again and again. That’s when exercise becomes more than just exercise. That’s when it turns into spirituality.
