Your Body like a Mosaic?

While I was going through the pictures I took during my travels in Turkey, the picture of the mosaic you see on top of the post got me thinking. Don’t you think it’s amazing how all those little pieces, perfectly placed, give rise to the most amazing forms and images? At the same time, you can’t look at one piece only, without losing the whole.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) this concept is deeply understood. Contrary to Western Medicine, they don’t look at the body one piece at the time. The body is considered a whole and to treat one piece you have to treat the whole.

In our Medical Qigong practice we do the same. We practice to bring back balance to the mosaic of our body. We learn to look at that amazing form in its entirety. We begin to understand where certain habits, in posture, motion or thinking, distort the image and lead to discomfort or disease. Change the habits, adjust the whole and the pieces will fall into their natural place. Qi flows and you are that radiant, beautiful form you were meant to be.

PS: Get to know your own mosaic during our open classes every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday or contact Ils for private classes.

About Rooting and Teaching

After a three month period of traveling through Europe and Turkey, I decided that my weary bones needed a rest and that my mind and body needed some stability. Although I really enjoyed traveling and also teaching in different countries, I’m glad I found a place where I can put some roots out.

I’m even more happy that those roots will grow in a soil that has since long a special place in my heart. I must have come to Sitia, a small town in the Northeastern part of Crete near the beach and the mountains (yes the best of both worlds!) about 10 years ago and immediately felt a strong connection with this place. The seed of wanting to live there one day was planted. And has now sprouted.

I found a studio where I can both live and teach. It’s small and that’s why, next to be able to give personal guidance, groups will be kept small. Maximum 5 people for the Open Classes taking place twice a week and 7 for the Free Meditation Classes, also twice a week. The other times are open for private Classes.

More info about the Open Classes can be found here. To reserve your spot in the Meditation Class, call, email or message Ils. You can also find and follow us on Facebook now!

Excited about this next step!
